On this trip so far, every first day of each destination has been a complete write off. In New York I started off with a jet lag, in Vegas I got a heatstroke on the first day as I usually do and last night, well, I was recovering from Vegas. Say no more.
Today the sun was shining in San Fransisco and I had zero plans. Whilst eating breakfast in the hostel common area I was told about a gospel in the church around the block from us. I like to go to church and this is something which I wanted to experience. In my mind I pictured it to be something like Whoopi Goldberg in Sister Act but it was even better.
I’ve never been in a place where I’ve felt such positive energy! All aspects from the music, dancing, vibe and speeches were amazing. It was interactive, motivational and overall extremely uplifting. Keep spreading the love and let’s remind ourselves to always be thankful for what we have.
Before the Sunday session started, I had found out that the San Fransisco Giants had a home game today at AT&T park. 1.5 hours before the game I booked a ticket through Stubhub and went by myself, leaving the tourist traps for tomorrow.
The park is beautiful and has different stunning views from each section.
I, of course, was a little late for the game and to my surprise people were still relaxing outside! It seems like it’s equally as much about the game as it is about the atmosphere. The locals who attend these games are solid fans who are dressed in Giants gear from head to toe. Many families had made this a day out and others came to drink, eat and have a good time! There is literally something there for everyone.
Everything in the US seems really lively. You won’t find game atmospheres like this in London unless it’s the Olympics or the Word Cup. This was just a local game yet it was great. Thank you to the people next to me who explained baseball for dummies. With hotdogs and beer in my hand, I got to watch my first baseball game.
