Mistakes are proof of trying

“Do you want something? Get it.
Do you want to be understood? Explain.
Do you have questions? Ask.
Do you not like it? Say it.”

I know many of you have probably seen the above paragraph before but it just got me thinking – it looks so simple doesn’t it? So why is it so hard?

Honestly, it is because we make it hard ourselves. Nobody will stand in our ways, but ourselves. What is the worst thing that can happen by taking these actions? Nothing, so it basically comes down to the fact that we are scared.

We would rather stay in our safe frame of mind when our instincts tell us otherwise, whatever it may be. Maybe we are scared of things not going the way we’ve planned, scared of failing and scared of hurting our prides? By giving into our fears, we lose against ourselves and that is where the failure comes in.

Remember – mistakes are proof of trying. Therefore by not trying, we are failing. In the future, we will sit and regret what we didn’t do but we will never regret trying. I’m talking about friendship, love, career, dreams, anything.

multiple-paths

Which one would we rather live with? That mistake, that momentary embarrassment or disappointment that we know we will get over, or that lifetime of regret over the things we missed out on because we were scared?

People are not mind-readers and are not there to assume or figure out for us what we want in life. We have to do it ourselves, we have to make it clear and we have to make it happen.

This is all something that I can relate to in so many different aspects and I for one, plan on making plenty of “mistakes” going forward because why not?

To me, my blog is not only about experiencing new things, it’s also about embracing a different mind set – free your mind and the rest will follow. I am not trying to preach, I am writing this in hopes that through my experiences, I will one day be able to adapt my mentality to live by this because life is just too short.
