I fell in love with this tapas place as soon as I saw it. From the moment you walk in, well… you can’t exactly walk because it’s so busy, step in I mean – you know this is going to be good.
I hate queuing for restaurants but this place is worth the wait. When busy, the average wait is around 30 minutes up to an hour. We waited for around 30 minutes and went for a stroll until it was our turn to be seated. You may also wait by the bar if there is space.
The restaurant seems small at first, probably because it is packed with people waiting for a table but it’s actually very spacious. The way the receptionists work with all that chaos is impressive!
I could not find the website for Cervecería Catalana so here is the menu for your reference.
The wine selection here is reasonable and mostly Spanish, but if you do go here you should definitely try the sangria.
There is a varied selection of tapas at quite a reasonably price so the best thing is to just order a bunch and share. Here is what we had:
Greek salad with the most amazing tomato/olive oil bread that I have ever had. I’ve never had bread this good, it was ridiculous!
Deep fried cheese with nuts and jam – wow. This was my 2nd favourite after the tomato bread.
Prawn Skewers on bread. These prawns were huge, fresh and juicy.
Hot Veal Sirloin on bread.
Deep fried calamaries.
Fried small fish. This was ok and was the only dish I wasn’t so happy with because it had small pieces of bones in it which you can’t exactly pick out.
Grilled baby squid – Andaluz style.
Dessert selection – my favourite one by far was the lemon cake.
Quick in-and-out service, the food was excellent and the price was very reasonable. Recommended for sure!

If I am not wrong this place is near Rambla de Catalunya, around Casa Batllo. I remember getting down from the metro Diagonal and walking around, getting into this place, but was too hungry to wait as it was crazily crowded :(.Din’t know it was so good then, I regret it now.It was pure luck walking-in seeing the crowd. Then we just ate in passieg de gràcia. Should visit it next time I am in Barcelona. Thanks for the info. :)

Yes that’s the one! The crowd was massive but I thought there must be a reason so it was worth the wait actually :) very fresh food. Definitely visit next time you’re there.
