28 – Review: Eminem at Wembley

It comes as a surprise to many people that my favourite kind of music is Hip-Hop and R&B. When I heard that Eminem was coming to perform in London I got excited! Eminem is very high up on my list of favourite rappers, after Jay-z of course.

Come Saturday 12th of July, I was in bed until the afternoon and thought to myself that I can’t be bothered to go and queue early for the general admission. Eventually I dragged myself out of bed at 2PM and got ready. The queue at Wembley was long when I arrived but that didn’t really make a difference once we got inside. We got seats right by the front, yay!

There was a 3 hour wait until the actual show and I was expecting some good pre-acts for an Eminem show, boy was I wrong… I promise I’m not being overly critical, look at the face of this crowd. Do they look impressed?

To be fair, the sound system at Wembley this time was a real let down. Many fans expressed their anger on social media over this matter because the issue remained throughout Eminem’s set as well.

The two pre-acts were:
Danny Brown

Odd future

As much as I didn’t like the actual group, I find Tyler The Creator’s voice sexy (blue hat), so he can keep rapping.

During my wait, I had 2 sausages and a red bull to keep me awake. I eat when I’m bored!

Eventually Eminem came on. Although half of the time I could barely recognise the song due to the sound, it was Eminem on stage so I was soaking it in!

Dr Dre came on as a surprise act. They never acted like they forgot about Dre.

I really like Eminem but honestly, the concert wasn’t great and it finished within 2 hours. When he said he was performing his last song I thought it was a joke but it wasn’t. He gave us 8 mile and that was it. Comparing it to Watch The Throne with Jay-Z and Kanye West, this concert had no real atmosphere. The crowd at Watch The Throne were begging for more and they got it, several times! Unfortunately, there was no crazy shady aftermath.

Rating: 3/5

This is a very frequently asked question which I was also trying so hard to find the answer to:
Q: What does Standing/Unreserved seating mean at Wembley?
A: The unreserved seating includes the whole bottom part of the arena which means that you can actually get as close to the stage as possible in terms of seating (and standing) if you come early enough. I was very doubtful of this because surely these seats would be worth more, but that’s the way it is so go for it!
