On Wednesday morning I was pretty sad to leave New York and all of the people that I had met, only to venture off to Las Vegas on my own. The fact that I was staying at a hotel made the thought of it even more daunting, is it going to be isolating?
I flew with Virgin and yet again they didn’t disappoint. I always complain that I get old people sitting next to me on the plane but this time the case was different. It was like a party plane. In fact, the person sitting next to me ended up having a major positive impact on my trip later on!
When I landed and got to the hotel it was what I expected, all couples and groups, no solo travelers. Vegas is not a place where solo travelers go, let’s be real.
Encore is absolutely beautiful though and I love my suite on the 25th floor. Coming from a hostel, having shared everything from space to bathroom, I was in heaven to say the least. The first thing I did was take a long, long, selfish shower.
Luckily I met a really nice Iranian girl by the pool within the first 10 minutes of wandering around. Unfortunately she had her evening planned already and left the next day. That small period by the pool did it for me, I got a heatstroke. As always, it’s my fault for not drinking enough water and I never learn!
As it was my first day and I didn’t want to waste it like I did in New York, I dragged myself outside wearing a jumper in the evening heat (I was cold) and made it 2 hotels down before I had to head back. I spend the night shivering in bed thinking “What the hell am I doing here, I’m going to have a miserable time”. Besides, I had to be up early for my Grand Canyon trip. To sum it up, my first day in Vegas was quite a depressing one!

Wow that was odd. I just wrote an really long comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t appear.
Grrrr… well I’m not writing all that over again.
Anyhow, just wanted to say great blog!
