35 – Grand Canyon and my first helicopter ride

One of the major reasons I decided to go to Las Vegas during my trip was to see the Grand Canyon and guess what, I did! On top of that, I got to go on a helicopter for the first time in my life. It was two birds in one slam.

I was initially meant to take a plane to the South Rim to see two viewpoints but due to my own stupidity I ended up having to take a helicopter to the West Rim. It was really exciting taking off and I convinced everyone that I wanted to sit at the front. Flying through the desert in a helicopter was so strange. Due to the lack of people, cars or anything else to compare it to for that matter, we didn’t feel high at all when in fact we were!

We got a gorgeous view over the Colorado river.

Can you see Hooverdam?

Most tours will take you to the top of the Canyon but we flew through it and landed right in the middle with champagne waiting for us at the bottom.

The experience was overall really cool and the views were amazing! As a thrill seeker though, I would have enjoyed it the most being at the top of some ridiculously high spot looking down at the Canyon. That’s when you really feel the power of this natural beauty. I will be back in Las Vegas for sure and I will get to that top next time! Another two ticks off my bucket list done.
