To kickstart London Cocktail week on Monday, I was invited to a Courvoisier tasting at The Churchill Bar, Hyatt Regency London.

I arrived a little late to the event thinking it starts at 3PM sharp. They must know the deal, people hadn’t arrived fully until 3.30PM which is when the actual event started – good one. As we waited we were served cognac cocktails with sugar syrup and rosemary lime juice. The mix was sweet and strong, just how I like it!
I brought my beautiful sister with me and we were ready to get tipsy, and of course get a little educated. Rebecca, the brand manager, talked us through the whole history of Corvoissier and she truly knows what she’s talking about. My attention span or note-taking skills are generally not good so I won’t ramble on about the history.

Here is an interesting fact though! Right now only 3 people know how to make the blend. The master blender, the apprentice and the master distiller. These 3 people are not allowed to travel together, ever… just in case, you know.
Anyway, moving on to the alcohol – I had heard that these types of tastings could be stingy but it was quite generous in my opinion. Good, I hadn’t taken the afternoon off work for no reason! (apart from not be at work zz)
My favourite part was the creme brule. The cognac did in fact bring out the flavour in the dessert.
We met some great people sitting next to us and whilst everyone else had left, we were still there chatting away about traveling and food. It was a great evening and I thank Courvousier again for the invite. I had never been to a tasting before – cheers! : )
