I’ve been to quite a few European cities over the years but none have quite lived up to Athens which I visited in 2012 with my older sister. Its by far the most beautiful and unique city I’ve been to in Europe. There was just something about this place that I can’t get over. Here are the reasons why I fell in love with Athens:
The architecture and landscape
Everything about this city is simply breathtaking – I will let the pictures do the talking. My highlights were the Panathenaic Stadium and walking up to the Acropolis.

There is also a beautiful beach town/lake nearby called Vouliagmenis which is worth seeing. You can get there via E22 from central Athens, getting off at Glyfada square and taking the 114 or the 116.

The food
I did not have a single bad meal in Athens. Everything is incredibly fresh. No wonder the man on the yogurt pack looks so healthy for his age. Do not miss the Greek salads and Moussaka.
The hotel
Where you stay can really impact your opinion of the place you are visiting. Hilton was the perfect place for us to stay when visiting Athens. It is close to everything, has amazing rooms, great food, a large pool and a breathtaking view. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to visit Athens.

We woke up and went to bed to these incredible views:

The weather
The weather was 30 degrees and sunny during our whole stay. Some may complain about the heat but coming from London we were all up for soaking up the sun.
The beautiful (and friendly) people
The Greek culture in general is very warm and hospitable. I don’t know about you, but I find Greek men to be very yummy eye candy. Guards and police probably have a photo requirement that goes along with their CVs… just saying. I tried my best to impress and make them smile of course. : )
I got my 2-night package deal to Athens for £300
