In my quest for bottomless brunches I visited B&H buildings a few weeks ago. Located in Clerkenwell, hidden right by City university is this gorgeous brunch place. In terms of interior this tops any I’ve been to so far – bright and gardenlike. There seemed to be many hen do’s and celebrations going on all over the place. Quite formal for a weekend but in a nice way.
The menu is of decent price and the dishes are proportionate. For brunch, you have the option of bottomless bellinis for £16 or bottomless bloody marys for £15. You also have the option to choose actual cocktails.
My sister and I had a Frappe Cubano each – let’s just say that this place isn’t stingy with alcohol at all! They’re pretty strong for midday drinks but they say that the best way to cure a hangover is with more alcohol. I always complain when drinks are weak so that’s a win.
We started off with some fresh fennel bread and jam which I really liked. For the main I chose Huevos Benedictos with chorizo, avocado and Bearnaise sauce. The ingredients were fresh but I had hoped for more flavor considering it contained béarnaise sauce and chorizo. Instead the flavors were very light, I guess that’s the healthier way of doing it. My sister on the other hand ordered a badass french toast, that’s what I’m talking about!
Due to the restaurant being very busy on weekends – the service wasn’t very personable at all but the food was delivered quite fast. I would return because the food is decent and most importantly the atmosphere is nice. It’s a good place to relax the afternoon away in the Clerkenwell area and has the interior that would suit a special event kind of brunch. Make sure you ask for a table in the garden and book well in advance! If all fails and tables are fully booked, you may have a chance at the counter by the bar.
