A few weeks back when my friend Sahar was still back in town decided to meet early for breakfast to make the most of our time together. A few clicks on Google led us to Bumpkin in South Kensington. The Christmas decoration and the cosy interior were a perfect way to start the day. It has a neighbourhood feel to it for sure.
I started off with a refreshing virgin mary, mild spicy, and a classic eggs benedict. The drink arrived somewhat spicy but tolerable and tasty as it should be. The eggs benedict on the other hand was very dry in terms of the bread, meat and sauce. The sauce was quite thick and not very runny with little taste. It was also quite hard to cut through the bread. The breakfast certainly didn’t feel fresh. My friend did like her traditional English breakfast though.

Despite the food we enjoyed the atmosphere, decor and staff who were friendly without being intrusive (almost too much so). Considering the place was very empty when visiting, the actual service was pretty disorganised and slow. We were served by 3 different waiters. I would definitely go back for a chilled coffee or a drink as the pub interior was lovely but I wouldn’t return for food.
2.5/5
This is rather disappointing – I’ve been to the South Kensington branch and it wasn’t this bad! The Nottinghill one is fab!

I may give it another go! Maybe it was a one off thing :) reviews generally looked quite positive
