Kojawan Marble Arch Review

A few weeks back I was invited to an intimate bloggers dinner at Kojawan. Kojawan is located on the 23rd floor of Hilton hotel on Edgeware Road. It’s far from a typical Japanese restaurant, both from an interior perspective as well as food.

The whole concept behind the interior is very futuristic and of course offers stunning views over London. As we started our dinner at 7PM we could slowly see the sun setting throughout the evening and the restaurant became low lit with cosy pink lights. We started off with drinks and the natural choice for me was to go for the strangest looking drink on the menu – the “Astro Pu$sy”. It was a mix of rum, rice milk, peanut butter and cinnamon. Although very interesting it’s probably not a drink I’d have again and that’s mainly because I’m not used to that kind of combination.

Their menu is very diverse and has something for everyone. Whether your vegetarian, adventurous or prefer to stick to your more traditional dishes. We tried quite a few items on the menu and the ones which really stood out to me were: Hot Cricket Bombs served with citrus butter sauce. Stone Bass Poke topped with shiso, jalapeño and sake. Watermelon Sashimi with black radish, tofu, black bean. Tender Beef Cheek in chilli, ginger and sesame. Sticky Pork Belly drenched in jalapeño ponzu. Having said that though I felt like some of the other dishes were slightly hit and miss. None of them were bad by any means but perhaps not worth the price as it’s obviously not a cheap restaurant.

Normally I feel quite let down by desserts at restaurants but Kojawan proved me wrong this time. I really enjoyed the Fish Waffles served with Blueberries, Black Sesame and Honey Whiskey Cream. Last but not least we also had the delicious PanTako which is a Fluffy Pancake with White Chocolate and Berries.

As mentioned Kojawan doesn’t serve your traditional Japanese food so if you’re looking for that, then Kojawan may not take the top spot. Kojawan offers an interesting Japanese inspired menu on the other hand, unlike any other restaurant that I’ve tried in London. The menu is definitely unique. Therefore if you’re into Japanese food but want to try something new then it’s worth giving Kojawan a go. Don’t miss the desserts!
