Royal Ascot with Appletiser UK

This year has been big in terms of experiencing new sporting events. I went to the opening of Formula One in Melbourne in March, two weeks ago I attended Polo In The Park and this week I got to go to the Royal Ascot thanks to Appletiser who kindly sent me a pair of tickets. Nona and I booked a day off work to attend the Ladies Day which is traditionally the busiest day of the five-day event.

Our train from London arrived in Ascot at 10.42 and it was already quite crowded. The train was packed with people in their fancy outfits and some had already started drinking! The doors at Ascot open at 10,30 and I recommend arriving quite early if you want to get a good spot in the park or take nice pictures without a huge crowd. Nona and I were so excited and spent the first hour roaming around, taking pictures and just getting familiar with all that the Queen Anne enclosure had to offer!

We definitely felt outdone in the hat department, there were some crazy hats around!

These were my favourites though.

The vibe around the place was buzzing from very early on. There is no shortage of food and drinks, for all budgets might I add. Just because you’re at the Ascot doesn’t mean you have to have a fancy meal and champagne. We went for the easy option of some Pimms and good old pizza.

Just in time for the Queen’s arrival at 2PM we managed to find a great spot at the Royal Enclosure literally 2 meters away from her! What’s up Queen, how ya dooing, we could almost at a first name basis now you know… Anyways the Royal Enclosure definitely has an exclusive vibe to it (naturally as it’s invitation only). It’s like two different worlds and the dress code at the Royal Enclosure is ridiculously strict.

We then went back to the grandstand area for the horse race only to watch all of our money go down the drain. To be honest we know nothing about horses so that comes to no surprise at all! Looking at all the horses go by, we didn’t even know which one we betted on! We blindly went on the recommendations of a couple who looked like they knew what they were talking about… haha, apparently not!

We were so tired from all the walking that we left right after the ceremony. We were lucky that we didn’t get caught in any rain and actually got some sun in the end. As soon as I stepped inside of my home the thunder started, just how the forecast had told me. It ended up being a great day, thank you again to Appletiser! xx
