Yauatcha’s most recently opened branch is based in Broadgate Circus. I’ve been a big fan for years and never had a bad meal there. Usually it’s a bit pricy but luckily I found a tasting menu on Bookatable for only £29, so I gladly went to inspect it with my sisters.
The deal comes with either a cocktail or a non-alcoholic cucumber & lime iced tea. My sisters and I replaced the iced tea with their signature lychee mocktail. The menu was a great mixture of vegetarian, fish and meat dishes. Each one came very well presented. I enjoyed every single one of the dumplings. The prawn and beancurd cheung fun was my favourite as the texture was so different. It’s a rice noodle roll stuffed in fried beancurd and prawn. Think of it as a mixture of a tempura and a dumpling.
The menu also included a baked venison puff, mushroom spring roll with black truffle and king crab shanghai siew long bun with pork (a soup dumpling in other words). The only dish which I didn’t actually like was the sticky rice in lotus leaf with chicken and dried shrimp. The dish had too much rice and too little meat for my liking. For desserts we had a generous selection of macarons, who can complain?
SUMMARY
The staff were attentive and provided excellent descriptions of each course as they arrived. Nothing has changed and I’m still a big fan! Make use of this amazing offer while it lasts.
