THE CONTINENT HOTEL BANGKOK REVIEW

May 1, 2017

Our last stop in our Asia trip was Bangkok. We stayed at the five star The Continent Hotel in Sukhumvit. The hotel has got easy access to public transportation, being located next to the BTS sky train at Asok station and the Sukhumvit MRT station. The Continent Hotel is also within easy reach of night markets, shopping malls and Bangkok’s main tourist attractions. From the moment you walk into the hotel, you’re immediately welcomed by friendly staff and luxurious Thai interiors.

The Continent Hotel comprises of 38 floors in total. The hotel swimming pool is located on the 37th floor and offers amazing views, especially at sunset. Unfortunately we went during the monsoon season so we didn’t get much sun in order to enjoy the pool. Its a very small pool though for such a large hotel and there are only a few sun loungers by the pool.

THE ROOM
We stayed on the 18th floor in a Continent Sky room with gorgous views over Bangkok. The Continent Sky room has floor to ceiling windows throughout half of the room. We arrived quite late in the evening so you can imagine how beautiful the view was.

Each floor represents a big city and our floor represented Paris. Whilst the entrance of the hotel had a Thai feel, the room did not. Instead the decoration was very neutral and modern. The room itself was very clean and spacious. The bathroom has a large tub as well as a shower cubicle. If you’re comfortable having curtains open while having a bath, you also have a gorgeous floor to ceiling view from the bath. There was absolutely no complaint in relation to the room.

The Continent Sky room comes with a package of benefits. We had a complimentary mini-bar with a daily replenishment and a fruit basket in the morning. Guests could also enjoy free alcoholic drinks from 5pm-8pm and snacks from 5pm-7pm at Axis&Spin, Sky Lounge (38th floor). The snacks include nibbles like mini burgers, spring rolls and light desserts. Drinks include wine, beer and a special cocktail menu. Having travelled for almost 2 weeks, I also took advantage of the 2 free items of laundry each day.

CONTINENT HOTEL BUFFET
Breakfast is served at Medinii restaurant on the 35th floor and is complimentary in the Sky package. Otherwise the breakfast costs £8 (350 BHT) which I think is very reasonable because the breakfast was great. I liked that they switched up the menu everyday. Some hotels repeat the same breakfast every single day which can get a little tiring. They offer traditional thai dishes with rice and potatoes! I loved this because I’ll eat any meal at any time of the day. They also have the traditional options such as omelettes, sausages and sandwich toppings.

THE CONTINENT HOTEL BANGKOK REVIEW SUMMARY
Everything about the hotel was great and I’d definitely recommend it. Its luxurious,  comfortable and very central. Prices start from around £70 (3400BHT) for a standard room and rooms with sky benefits start from around £105 (4500BHT). For such a good hotel I think the price is very reasonable. If possible, I definitely would get an upgrade because it comes with so much more than a beautiful view. You really get so many perks to make your stay perfect.

Great post. I have been to Bangkok many years ago and stayed at the Marriott however, I can’t remember which part of the city it was!
