Bohemia Jersey Review

As a part of my recent stay at The Club Hotel & Spa Jersey, I visited Bohemia which is 1 out of only 3 Michelin star restaurants in Jersey. Chef Steve Smith is currently the star behind Bohemia, which won a Michelin star in 2005. You must arrive very hungry when you visit Bohemia because the 9/11 course meal is a marathon which will last a few hours (a great marathon might I add). Bohemia is cosy and low lit in a modern setting. The restaurant wasn’t too busy on the night we visited.

My sister and I went for the 9 course prestige menu (£89) which included the following: Oyster in Cucumber & Dill // Crab & Raw Tuna with Strawberry & Sourdough // Foie Gras Cream with Sea Buckthorn & Kumquat, Duck Salad and Pistachio // Scallop with Roscoff Onion and Smoked Eel & Mustard // Sirloin & Cheek with White Asparagus & Morels along with Tartare & Oxtail on toast // Squab Pigeon with Turnip & Pistachio and Rhubarb // Kalamansi Mule // Apple & Blackberry Textures // Rhubarb with Buttermilk & White Chocolate & Ginger.

Each dish was uniquely prepared and perfectly presented. The staff explained the dishes in detail as they arrived and left plenty of room in between courses. You also have the option to add a selection of artisan cheese from Jean-Yves Bordier at a £15 supplement (if you have space that is!).

My favourite dishes were right at the beginning and at the end of our meal. The oysters were really tasty and refreshing. I also highly enjoyed the Foie Gras Cream & Duck salad which was very rich and quite sweet. The Crab & Raw Tuna also hit the spot. The contrast in flavours between the fish and strawberry sauce went so well together.

Some dishes such as the oxtail one, I found there was a bit too much going on in one go. The dish came in 3 parts, which along with the appetisers made it 13 courses!

Lastly, I liked all desserts. They were delicious and light enough to have at the very end of a heavy meal. In fact they were all quite refreshing and fruity.

BOHEMIA JERSEY REVIEW SUMMARY
We really had a great experience at Bohemia and for £89 you definitely do get what you pay for. The food was very well thought out and rich which makes for a great special occasion meal.
