WHAT TO DO IN PICCADILLY THIS CHRISTMAS

December 6, 2017

It’s finally the time of year we’ve all been waiting for and London is looking more festive than ever. Over the last few weeks I’ve been spending quite a lot of time in Piccadilly specifically to explore things to do in the area and here are my highlights.

SEE
Did you know that 2017 is the first ever year that Christmas lights have been put up in Piccadilly? With it being located just one parallel road from Regent Street, it’s definitely worth checking out the brand new lights. At first glance I thought the lights were angels, but they’re in fact inspired by the statue of Anteros which has been in Piccadilly Circus since 1983.

SHOP
Christmas shopping or even browsing at Fortnum & Masons is a must! It’s an upmarket department store in Piccadilly, selling everything from clothes, accessories to food. When I think of delicious additions to my Christmas dinner, I think of this department store. From individual edible treats to hampers, you won’t get bored there.

CELEBRATE
The Ritz
Just over a week ago, The Ritz set up their Christmas tree and the hotel is looking stunning. The Ritz is a prime spot for special occasion dinners, afternoon teas and drinks. If you visit for a drink, make sure you ask the barman at Rivoli for the True Gentleman – a cocktail inspired by Charlie Chaplin. It’s an excellent drink with a great presentation.

Swan Bar at Maison Assouline
Did you know that there’s a cute little bookshop on Piccadilly which also has a bar / cafe? Neither did I! You can spend hours in here browsing the book shop while you have something to eat and drink. Apparently they do great coffee too. This gem is no longer hidden.

Barbecoa Piccadilly
Jamie Oliver’s all day brasserie is also a great place to pop by for a drink and something to eat. They’re well known for their meat and quality cocktails. They also offer a good selection of bar bites and nibbles. If you’re going for a cocktail, ask the barman for a dried ice or flamed one!

Le Meridien Piccadilly
If you want a drink with views over Piccadilly, Le Meridien is the place to be. Right now the weather may not be ideal to sit in their 2nd floor terrace but their lower ground LONGITUDE 0°8 bar and lounge has got a very chilled atmosphere and setting.
