Those who regularly follow my blog know that I live and breathe photography. On normal days you’ll find me carrying a big bag with all my camera equipment inside, just in case I come across something photo worthy. As much as I’m glued to my SLR I also hate carrying it. So when I heard about the opportunity to explore the Amalfi Coast with Huawei, who recently released a new phone which is arguably the best camera phone on the market, I jumped at it. Huawei launched the P20 Pro with 3 Leica lenses to capture professional photography on the go and we got to travel down to Italy to put the phone to the test.
The trip started with a visit to the Leica HQ in Frankfurt, learning about the history and production process behind their cameras and lenses. The 3 Leica lenses on the Huawei P20 Pro include a 40MP Light Fusion sensor, 20MP black and white lens for depth and a 5X Hybrid Zoom which allows you to zoom without losing detail in the shot.
We then flew to Naples to explore the Amalfi coast by land, sea and air. Each destination included a photography masterclass by Alex Lambrechts, modelling by Jasmin Brunner and styling by Geoff Cooper.
I’ve put together a collection of images below. All images have been edited with Lightroom using different types of presets to show the variety of images that can be generated with the Huawei P20 Pro.

Needless to say I’m very impressed with the camera and have converted to using this phone permanently. Here are the top 3 reasons why I would recommend the P20 Pro, apart from the camera quality:
– Beautiful bokeh
– Excellent battery life
– Very smooth video stabilisation
If you’re used to working with Mac, fear not. A simple cable and their own software HiSuite allows a quick transfer of media.
