SONEVA FUSHI REVIEW – LAID BACK LUXURY GETAWAY IN THE MALDIVES

If you’re dreaming of the perfect luxury getaway to the Maldives, you’re in the right place. Soneva Fushi is an all-inclusive luxury resort which offers the ultimate mix of relaxation, adventure, and sustainability.

Soneva Fushi Location: A Tropical Oasis

Soneva Fushi Maldives is located on the stunning private island of Kunfunadhoo in the Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The location itself is one of the most beautiful and peaceful spots in the Maldives, surrounded by crystal-clear waters and incredible marine life. This place is a true paradise for both families and couples. Think of a paradise island like something out of Robinson Crusoe.

How to Get to Soneva Fushi Maldives

Getting to Soneva Fushi Maldives is straightforward. After arriving at Malé International Airport, you’ll take a short seaplane ride (about 30 minutes) to the resort. The flight itself is a beautiful experience—you’ll get a bird’s eye view of the Maldives’ crystal-clear waters and beautiful islands. Once you land, the friendly staff will welcome you, and the vacation vibes start instantly!

Before you board the seaplane, you can wait in Soneva’s own waiting room at the airport, which has comfortable sofas, refreshments and even massages available. As soon as you step off the plane you’re greeted by Mr or Ms Friday, your allocated friendly staff for each villa. You’re asked to take off your shoes on the short boat ride as an intro to the island’s “no news no shoes (& no plastic!) policy”. You’re encouraged to not wear shoes and be free from news / the outside world by having WiFi only in selected places across the island. It’s the perfect place to relax and switch off.

On the first night we arrived we were lucky to be welcomed with a cocktail party on a sandbank! Music, coconut cocktails, canapés and a beautiful sunset – what more could you ask for?

Our Villa: Soneva Fushi Family Suite with Pool

We stayed in the Soneva Fushi Family Suite with Pool, which was amazing! This spacious villa has everything you need for a perfect vacation—360 square meters of space, including a private saltwater pool, an upstairs deck, a cosy living room, and a kids’ room. Plus, the villa comes with some great amenities like a wine fridge, minibar, and a pantry stocked with snacks. It’s perfect for families, but it would also be ideal for couples who want extra space.

Soneva has villas on both the sunset and sunrise sides of the island. If you’re looking for more privacy, the sunrise side is the best choice; if you like more adventure and snorkelling, the sunset side is the place. Each villa has its own bikes, which is the most convenient way to get around the island (although do expect to get lost!).

One of the coolest features of the Soneva Fushi Family Suite with Pool was the outdoor bath area. The space was private, tucked away in the villa’s lush garden, and it really gave the feeling of being in nature. The outdoor bathtub was huge and perfect for a relaxing soak—definitely a nice change from your usual indoor bath.

The outdoor bathroom has natural stones and a roof overhead to provide some shade. You can take a shower or a bath while enjoying the fresh air, and you’ve got the sounds of the island around you.
