People say that San Fransisco is one of the most European cities in the US and I must say that I do agree. The hostel that I stayed at had arranged a walking tour and I met a few fellow Londoners which was very nice! We toured the city for around 2 hours. What made San Fransisco stand out for me was the lively Fisherman’s Wharf – Pier 39.
The Coit Tower offers stunning views of the city.
San Fransisco is very artsy and has got a rich culture.
The city has a very large Chinese population and the biggest Chinatown in the world outside of Asia. The food is meant to be great but unfortunately I didn’t get to try it.
Apparently, the fortune cookie originated from San Fransisco. What better place to try one than at the factory itself in Chinatown? It was delicious and pretty accurate.
San Francisco was beautiful but I’m not sure I left my heart there as they say. Maybe it had to do with the fact that it did feel European. On a trip to a different continent I didn’t want to feel too familiar. I also did not get a very friendly feel from the general community is San Fransisco. Dirty needles on the streets was not a very pleasant sight either.
My favourite part was the first day and it was worth the visit but I wouldn’t return in a hurry.
